Most of the song titles on the back of Saint Dude are references to older sheet music/songs. Some of the more humorous ones, like this one, were written by Beck and/or whoever helped him fill Song Reader out. It does somewhat reference a very popular old song from 1892 called "Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me A Bow Wow." That song started out seemingly as a popular tune, but now seems to be considered more of a kid's song.
Beck just made the title more manly/cowboy-ly with a cattle prod to fit his imaginary collection. :)
