Lyrics:
Cabin In The Cotton [Version (a)]:

There's a cabin in the cotton
Far away but not forgotten
But in my recollection
That's where my affections stray
I get feelings sentimental
And I see a smile so gentle
When I think of old Virginie
And those pickaninny days

We took the good
And we took the evil
Laughter in some
And that old boll weevil
Time has gone by
Now here am I
Wishing that I only knew
How to wake up in the morning
In the cabin I was born in
Little cabin in the cotton
I have not forgotten you

There's a cabin in the cotton
Oh far away but not forgotten
I get feelings sentimental
And I see a smile so sweet and gentle
Ah we took the good
And we took the evil
Laughter and song
And that old boll weevil
Time has gone by
Now here am I
Wishing I only knew
How to wake up in the morning
In the cabin I was born in
Little cabin in the cotton
I have not forgotten you

The Song:

This song can be found on The Manly Family Song Album, and is copyrighted.

Most of the song titles listed on the back of Saint Dude are references to older sheet music songs.

There is actually two different "Cabin In The Cotton" songs, and they seem to share some lyrics and I cannot quite tell which came first or what. One seems to have been written in 1932, and was likely a part of the Bette Davis film of the same name. Then there's another one by Cab Calloway at roughly the same time. It could be the same song, but the lyrics are definitely somewhat different. *shrug*
