The Song:

CMJ Monthly, in November 1999, ran an article in which the writer visited the studio as Beck and his band were finishing up Midnite Vultures. The author was there with three days or so to go before the album's deadline, so he got to hear a number of the tracks as well as witness the pressure (zone) building.

"Sweet and Low" was mentioned in the article. It said the song was still unmixed, even with the deadline so near. I'm assuming that's one of the reasons it didn't end up on the album? Justin Meldal-Johnsen is also quoted in the article, describing "Sweet and Low" as "spastic future funk"!

So for now, this is one of the many lost Vultures tracks which didn't make it on to the album. The title sure fits the "Peaches & Cream"/"Nicotine & Gravy"/"Milk & Honey" vibe though, doesn't it? Maybe a fourth song with a name like that on one album would've been pushing it. :-)
