Lyrics:
I Still Miss Someone [Version (a)]:

I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere
I miss those arms that hold me so tight
When all the love was there

At my door, the leaves are falling
A cold wild wind will come
Sweethearts walk back together
And I still miss someone

Though I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere
I miss those arms that held me so close
When all the love was there

I wonder if he's sorry
For leaving what we'd begun
There's someone for me somewhere
But I still miss someone

Though I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere
I miss those arms that held me so close
When all the love was there

The Song:

"I Still Miss Someone" is an old classic song by Johnny Cash from 1958.

Beck's version can be found on an old informal home tape, referred to as Beck + Dava. It appears to be a recording of a house party, where Beck and some people are sitting around, singing songs.

After Beck sings Woody Guthrie's "Those Brown Eyes," he tries to recall another song he knows about brown eyes, "Beautiful Brown Eyes." Then Dava, the woman who had been singing along to many of Beck's songs on the tape, comments on songs about blue eyes. She then sings "I Still Miss Someone."

Beck doesn't sing on this at all, but it's probably a safe assumption he is on guitar. Interestingly, it sounds like there are two guitarists going on this, which I had not noticed on any other songs on the tape at all. All in all, this cover is one of my favorite moments on the tape actually, I think Dava sings it quite nicely.
