Lyrics:
Forget Marie [Version (a)]:

Standing on a corner
With a raggedy old suitcase by my side
Waitin' for a Greyhound bus to come
So I can take a ride
I'm gonna go as far as fourteen dollars
Will take a fool like me
Gotta find a place where I can hide
No, I must forget Marie

Standing on a corner
Feeling raindrops race down my face
Crying loser's tears
Knowing I should never have run the race
Never should have let her built a house of love
That's fallen down on me
Gotta find a place where I can hide
You know I must forget Marie

Standing on a corner
With a raggedy old suitcase in my hand
Waiting for a Greyhound bus
But I haven't got a plan
Gonna go as far as fourteen dollars
Will take a fool like me
Gotta find a place where I can hide
You know I must forget Marie

The Song:

"Forget Marie" is a Lee Hazlewood song, that can be found on his album, Cowboy In Sweden. Beck covered the song while visiting Nashville in 2006. He spent a day there, recording a bunch of country covers. This was the first (and only so far) to find release, when in August 2007 Beck put the track as a stream on beck.com. He put it there a week after Lee Hazlewood had passed away, as a tribute.

Beck is a big fan of Lee's, having also covered "If It's Monday Morning" in the past.

Beck's version is similar to Lee's, maintaining the same laidback feel and riff. Beck added some whistling.
